Foodlink's History
Foodlink was founded in 1992 in partnership with the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) to coordinate the distribution of government commodities made available by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) through The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). Foodlink is a Distribution Partner of Feeding America and was the first food bank to receive The Pyramid of Excellence Award for Food and Nutrition Services from the USDA in 1998.
Foodlink has both statewide and local programs that address its mission to find sensible solutions to hunger. Sacramento Emergency Foodlink is Sacramento County’s official food bank.
